Khan Lab

Hello

I am driven to uncover the hidden mechanisms of cardiometabolic disease and transform systems-level discoveries into innovative biomarkers and therapeutic opportunities. By bridging computational analysis, experimental validation, and translational research, I aim to advance precision medicine and improve outcomes for patients facing diabetes, atherosclerosis, kidney diseases, and cancer.

Dr. Madhu Chakkere Shivamadhu
Research Scientist
Dr. Madhu Chahhere Shivamadhu earned his M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Bangalore University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Mysore, India. During his postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan, he developed patient-derived colorectal cancer organoid models to identify biomarkers associated with colorectal lesions. He subsequently joined Drexel University, where his research focused on redox-dependent cysteine post-translational modifications and their roles in regulating cancer cell migration and invasion.
Dr. Shivamadhu has extensive expertise in CRISPR-based genome editing, cancer metabolism, cancer biology, clickable chemoproteomics, patient-derived organoid models, and in vivo mouse models. His research integrates molecular, cellular, and translational approaches to investigate disease mechanisms and identify novel therapeutic targets.
Dr. Shivamadhu is currently a Research Scientist in the Khan Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. His current research focuses on pancreatic β-cell biology, immunometabolism, and the application of artificial intelligence–driven approaches to understand metabolic diseases, identify novel therapeutic targets, and advance precision medicine.
